Summer often brings us lot of tempting treats. Unfortunately, many of these warm weather foods can cause our poor belly upset which sometimes result - heartburn.

Below is the list of top 10 most common heartburn-causing foods this summer and at the same time, you can learn why it is so problematic for the heartburn acid reflux sufferers. Also, during summer, there are alternative delicious foods that can allow us to enjoy this season nevertheless. So, we would miss out.

1. Corn on the cob with butter
Butter is a known heartburn trigger. Summer’s sweet corn is plenty of flavors. Try it boiled or grilled, without using the butter. You may actually like it better this way.

2. Chili dogs
Hot dogs can be high in fat while chili is spicy and tomato-based. Both are detrimental to heartburn sufferer’s health. Opt for a veggie, lean beef or turkey dog and forget about the chili.

3. Fried chicken
Almost everyone loves fried chicken even though it is greasy and high in fat. How about trying skinless chicken breasts that are baked or grilled instead. They are still quite tasty. Getting rid of your heartburn acid reflux symptoms is far more important than enjoying that only moment of sinful food. How about try this heartburn-free recipe - Oven -Fried Chicken ?

Coffee has much higher caffeine than tea. Caffeine can trigger heartburn. If you really wants some caffeine to perk up your energy, try iced tea instead, which contains far less caffeine.

A favorite summer drink. However, Lemonade is made with an acidic citrus fruit which can easily trigger your acid reflux symptoms. Try apple juice or chilled water with just a touch of lemon instead. It is still a very refreshing drink to enjoy during this hot summer.

7. Salad dressing
Most salad dressings found in the market are high in fat and contain herbs and spices (like garlic) that are heartburn triggers. Go for low-fat salad dressings that are light on garlic and spices. Or, how about making your own salad dressing instead?

8. Root beer floats
This is actually one of my favorite summer drink. Unfortunately, root beer is a carbonated drink which sometimes too gassy for heartburn sufferers especially the serious case ones. Moreover, ice cream is a common heartburn trigger due to dairy and fat content. Thus, root beer floats become a big NO-NO to people suffer from heartburn acid reflux.

9. Pineapple
Eating a sweet and juicy pineapple is an enjoyment. But, pineapple is an acidic food that can cause severe acid reflux symptoms and it is very bad for people who has gastric problem. Try mango or papaya or banana, which can aid digestion.

10. Tomatoes
I know that people loves to grill tomatoes during summer time. Being an acidic food, tomatoes is common heartburn trigger. Anyway, recently, there is an outbreak of tomato salmonella cases. For the time being, just avoid tomatoes.

While the foods listed above are common heartburn culprits, others can eat some (or all) of them without having much problems. One of the most way is to keeping a heartburn journal. The link pasted below says the complete opposite of what your article says about pineapple being a contributor to heartburn. In fact, she says it’s to be eaten to help “soothe” heartburn. I just ate pineapple 10 minutes ago and believe to be having heartburn, so I decided to “google” heartburn and I came up with two entirely opposite articles. Why is this? Could it be that pineapple helps under certain circumstances? or is this author completely confused and wrong? THANKS!
