Summer Fight Against Heartburn Triggers
Summer is here. You can see people coming out of their house, putting up their barbecue pits and getting into the swimsuits. Why not take this opportunity to slim down. Slimming down has a great benefit for heartburn acid reflux suffers.
According to Pat Baird, nutritionist and National Heartburn Alliance Board member -
“Excess pounds increase pressure on the stomach, which worsens reflux. Some heartburn sufferers find that their symptoms improve by losing weight.”
To kick start this summer battle of hte bulge, here are some weight-loss tips for people who are prone to indigestion and you may find it useful and handy.
Chew your food slowly – Eat your food slowly. Chew them thorough before you swallow. This will make you feel fuller as food take times to digest and reduce the likehood of suffering acid reflux symptoms such as indigestion.
Avoid after-dinner snacking – Heartburn is less likely to happen if meals are eaten at least 2 to 3 hours before lying down. At the same time, please do not sabotage a day of healthful-eating by indulging in too many late-night snacks.
Limit your fat intake- Reduce the amount of fat-laden foods this summer. It helps to relieve your stress on stomach and also, helps to drops a few pounds and inches at your waist.
Stash “safe” snacks – Keep a supply of healthful snacks, such as cut up vegetables, raisins or graham crackers on hand to decrease your temptation to reach for potato chips or cookies.
Starting a food journel – Keep track of what and when you eat. This method can help you to control what you consume, as well as identify what triggers your heartburn attacks.
