Ginger Remedy For Heartburn Symptoms

For centuries, Chinese have been using ginger as the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to cure all kinds of stomach aches and intestinal ailments which includes heartburn and acid reflux.

According to the authors of The People’s Pharmacy – Joe and Teresa Graedon say that ginger has been used for heartburn, acid reflux, nausea, upset stomach, motion sickness and other indigestion and stomach related problems. One of the faster way to relieve acid reflux symptoms is to make your ginger tea from fresh ginger root.

Firstly, you shave off an inch of the skin, then grate the shaved ginger into a mug. Secondly, you pour the boiling water over it and let it steep for a few minutes before you strain through a sieve to remove the grated ginger. You can add sugar and lemon to enhance the taste of the drink.

“If you sip it slowly, this ginger tea will definitely stimulate saliva production and also help wash down any residual acid in the esophagus,” the Graedons say.

(* Another great cinnamon ginger drink which can also help to fight heartburn symptoms.)

The Graedons’ readers also have had success with Tazo Chai organic spiced black tea and eating candied ginger, which they say works as well as acid-suppressing drugs on their heartburn. Other recommendations: crystallized ginger and ginger snaps.

You can find ginger related products in your nearby drugstore. If you are keen to learn more about other home remedies to our common ailments, you maybe interested to get a copy of the The People’s Pharmacy by Joe and Teresa Graedon.
