These days, many people are suffering from digestive ailments and are troubled by it. If you do not take special care and treat your ailments, they would re-occur again and again over the years and become your chronic illness. Long term dependence of prescription drugs is not a good solution.

A good alternative to prescribed drugs for treating ailments of the stomach is actually using the “natural remedies.” The “natural” alternative to traditional medicine has for centuries proven to be an effective cure for many stomach and digestive ailments. The use of “natural remedies” often eliminates for the user the need for drugs and possibly surgery.

Dr. Anil Minocha, in his book, Natural Stomach Care introduces to the reader a wide range of easy-to-follow and effective therapies. Both the medical doctor and the layman will find useful the health information discussed in Natural Stomach Care.

It is surprising to learn just how many folk remedies are available to the interested person. Most of these remedies have been utilized around the world for hundreds if not thousands of years. All the material in this comprehensive discussion of the subject has been presented in a well organized and easy to follow format.

Firstly, the author gives us an overview on how the body functions including the digestive process of food, the importance of restful sleep, proper daily nutrition, the reduction of stress in our lives as well as other factors which, when taken together, all contribute to a health life style. He uses his many years of practice and research as a gastroenterologist to highlight the many factors that contribute to the wellness of the human body.

Furthermore, Dr. Minocha corrects misconceptions that many people have held for years about the proper care and feeding of the stomach. In addition, he suggests many useful “natural remedies” for such ailments as inflammatory bowel disease, gastric ulcers, intestinal gas, constipation and other common digestive disorders. In another chapter he introduces detoxification techniques which, when applied, clean the gut of all impurities. A process that uses “probiotics” in which helpful microorganisms are introduced and help to keep the digestive process “in balance.” Throughout the book the author provides helpful information on his subject, describing in detail each problem and how to either treat the ailment or the preventive measures necessary to prevent it from occurring.

Natural Stomach Care is highly recommended for people who are experiencing problems with their stomach or digestive system and are interested in learning about and applying “natural remedies” as an effective treatment for such ailments. Persons who are presently free of digestive and stomach problems will also benefit by learning natural preventive measures that when applied, should keep the stomach and digestive system properly working throughout a lifetime.

It is comprehensive and written in an accessible, down-to-earth style. It is filled with great information and should be read by everyone who suffers from acid reflux and GERD.” — Daniel G. Amen, MD, author of Change Your Brain, Change Your Life

I have broken down what each chapter of the book talks about. From there, you will know whether this book is suitable for you.

Chapter 1 – Understanding Gastroesopheageal Reflux Disease

Chapter 2 – Who is Susceptible to Gastroesophageal Reflux?
From this chapter, you will learn which groups of people are more prone to acid reflux heartburn problem. Are you under chronic stress? Are you pregnant? Are you over fifty? Are you overweight?
Chapter 6 – Myths Concerning Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and Heartburn

Chapter 7 – Frequently Asked Questions about Heartburn and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

One of the readers bought this book. Read the following testimonial:
Reader’s Reviews by L. Crawford “EZ Rider” (Los Angeles, California USA) 5.0 out of 5 stars

I picked up this book at the check out counter of a pharmacy store several years ago, and didn’t read it until recently. It really is everything you need to know about acid reflux, its causes, side effects, how to manage the illness (treatment options include diet, medication and surgery), and the disease progression if left untreated. I was so inspired by this book that after I read it I went to Amazon.com and bought several copies as gifts for friends and family that also suffer from acid reflux. Since acid reflux eventually causes esophageal cancer, I would argue if you or someone you know has acid reflux, then get and read this book – Coping with Chronic Heartburn: What You Need to Know About Acid Reflux and GERD!

Wendland M.Sc. R.D. and Lisa Marie Ruffolo

This book gives a good overview of the problem, with a lot of basic information with a good level of detail, but in not too technical terms. The diet recommendations are great, and can help you to create your very heartburn diet plan.

As you know, heartburn is often the result of acid reflux which can cause a lot of frustration and painful symptoms. For some people, heartburn is merely the symptom of a minor intermittent problem, but for others, it is the symptom of a major chronic condition known as gastrointestinal reflux disease. The purpose of our book is to provide a source of information on this condition, explaining why you experience chronic heartburn, when you should seek medical treatment, and how to incorporate lifestyle changes, especially changes to your diet, so you can manage painful and annoying symptoms.

If you have symptoms of chronic heartburn, this book will help you learn more about the disorder and gain relief from the pain you are experiencing. Questions to be answered include the following:

* What are the symptoms, causes, and complications of chronic heartburn?
* Who is vulnerable to the development of acid reflux problems?
* When do you need to involve your doctor?
* What role does medication play in managing acid reflux?
* What lifestyle changes can be made to relieve chronic heartburn?
* What is the best diet to provide relief and prevent chronic heartburn?
* What recipes are best for chronic heartburn?

Start by reading the first chapters on the symptoms and causes of heartburn. If you are eager to understand more about medical therapies for treating chronic heartburn, move on to those chapters.

At any time go to the diet and recipe sections. Foods that potentially aggravate or relieve symptoms are identified. Sample menus are presented based on the severity of symptoms. And more than 100 recipes are included that we have created and tested for managing acid reflux. These recipes are well tolerated if you are sensitive to acid and other irritating ingredients. Meals can be a comfortable and enjoyable experience — even when you have chronic heartburn. Use the recipes to take control of your symptoms as you regain your optimum health.

For anyone who suffers heartburn, and thereby tends to view the kitchen with some trepidation, “Chronic Heartburn” is a gateway to culinary freedom and delicious experience. As enjoyable to read as it is written and researched, the book offers everything: causal information of acid reflux (including informative diagrams), treatment options (including herbal ones), lifestyle modifications, guides to foods that hurt and heal, charts for effectively managing heartburn, and over one-hundred recipes, from soups to smoothies to main-course meats and seafood. Among my favorites: grilled halibut with papaya salsa, Russian-style borscht and mango chicken. As one who, like many, does suffer bouts of heartburn, I’ve come across few books that so effectively take the worry out of dining.

by Jonathan Wright,MD and Lane Lenard PhD

This book – Why Stomach Acid is Good for You: Natural Relief from Heartburn, Indigestion, Reflux and GERD is definitely an interesting read and may bring more revelations to you about your heartburn acid reflux or GERD problem.

A friend who has suffered acid reflux for long time recommended this book to me. My friend found out that her acid reflux was caused by too little stomach acid. In fact, she resolved her problem by using one of the methods in the book.

Out of curiosity, I went to go a research on this book and found that there are quite a number of great testimonials from readers using the methods mentioned in the book.

This book shocked me – G. Shane (Chicago, IL)
A great, great book. I stopped taking my Prevacid before I finished the second chapter. Dr. Wright exposes how the medical profession treats the problem of a little bit of stomach acid in the wrong place (your esophagus) by almost completely neutralizing your stomach acid with powerful drugs. But without stomach acid, you can’t absorb nutrients properly, and you can’t prevent bacteria growth in your stomach!

Thank God I found this book, or I would have taken those pills forever, and my symptoms weren’t even that bad. I needed to change a few eating habits, not get rid of stomach acid forever. I was honestly taken aback that doctors could be so ignorant of the importance of stomach acid for your health, and so willing to casually prescribe a powerful (and profitable) pill to simply make the symptoms go away without treating the cause.

Heartburn Cure on the Horizon – Consumer Product Engineer(North Carolina USA)
I’m 32 and have had heartburn since I was a teenager. I controlled it with TUMS. A year ago I finally went to a GI doctor and he immediately prescribed Prevacid. It worked great. I could eat anything, even my favorite pepperoni pizza.

After a year on the drug I decided to quit cold turkey. I didn’t want to have to take this drug the rest of my life especially after hearing some of the possible long term side effects (stomach tumors). I had horrendous heartburn non stop for 2 weeks. I stuck with only Tums to help ease the pain. I got to thinking that something else might be going on.

I called my sister who worked at an allergy clinic. She had me come in to speak with the doctor. He ordered Food Allergy tests. Sure enough… Dairy, Tomatoes, Corn, Peanuts. At about the same time, I found this book. This book explains why that it is very probable that I got these food allergies from STOMACH ACID SUPPRESSION. It also explains why I could have low stomach acid which might be the cause of my GERD. It could also explain why I have had acne since I was a teenager. It’s all exposed in this wonderful book. This is no joke… I now believe I will find out soon when I get my allergies under control that STOMACH ACID IS GOOD FOR YOU!!!

This is my favorite testimonial.

End Antacid Dependency – Rufus Quail
A new remedy came on the market promising 14 days of heartburn relief. I rushed to the drugstore the day it hit the shelves. As advertised, I had 14 days of blissful remission.

My suffering relieved, I relived the days when heartburn was impossible. There was a time I could gulp jalapeno peppers like candy. I could eat a double order of Nick’s Famous Coney Island Dogs piled with onions, washed down with a (small) pitcher of beer. I laughed at heartburn.

When the 14 days ended, the heartburn returned with a vengeance, worse than ever. Warning labels proscribed continued use of the remedy. There has to be a better way, I concluded, and started researching heartburn online. This book turned up among the search results.

Following the book’s advice, I swallowed a spoonful of fresh lemon juice to combat an attack of heartburn. The lemon juice caused some alarming turmoil in my stomach, but the heartburn subsided. I had some lemons on hand, so I squeezed them into glass bottles of drinking water. I put the juice of half a lemon in each quart bottle.

For the next few months, I drank lemon-spiked water. The heartburn abated from day one. I didn’t need to take the acid tablets the book recommends.

I am a beer and coffee lover, so there were occasional flareups. I might forget to take the onions out of my gyro. I fought these flareups with chewable papaya enzyme tablets, which work better than any antacid.

My shopping habits changed. Instead of buying antacids in jumbo bottles, I bought lemons by the 5-pound bag. I squeezed one or two lemons a day into my drinking water.

Eventually, water didn’t taste right without lemon. I ended my lemon water addiction. In 3 years, the heartburn has not returned. I’ve been working on the same bottle of papaya enzyme while eating and drinking practically anything I want (except onions).

I’ve had a puzzling response from fellow sufferers when I have suggested this book. People don’t want to hear about it. They get the idea that it’s some kooky, possibly dangerous, health fad. Strangely, they seem reluctant to give up their trusty antacids. They’d rather keep fighting a losing battle than take a chance on a simple cure that sounds counterintuitive. MORE stomach acid will cure heartburn?

I consider myself lucky to be open to alternatives. I turned to this book only because I was so fed up with years of riding the antacid merry-go-round. If you are serious about ending antacid dependence, this book has the answer.

You have to be patient while the authors lay out their theories and research findings. For the doubting medical community and readers leery of jarring unconventional ideas, the authors take several chapters to make their case.

Actual advice for heartburn sufferers can be summarized in a few pages. A few pages that can make your life a whole lot better.

Guess what! I got the book and recommended to my friends who have the similar problems- long time heartburn, acid reflux, GERD and majority of them found the book very useful in helping them to overcome their symptoms. Get it NOW.

by Anil Minocha and Christine Adamec

This book is written by an internationally recognized expert on digestive diseases, Dr Anil Minocha. He is recognized worldwide as an authority of what he’s written about. Among his very impressive credentials is his being Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology for the School of Medicine, Southern Illinois University.

Drawing from his extensive experience diagnosing and treating patients, as well as the latest research from around the globe, Dr. Anil Minocha explains the causes of heartburn——and the potentially serious consequences of leaving it untreated.

In addition to providing an overview of the problem, Dr. Minocha offers invaluable information on:

* The latest treatment options–from nutrition and simple lifestyle changes to drugs, surgery, and alternative remedies
* How your diet and weight may be affecting your GERD
* The relationship between stress and heartburn
* Dealing with GERD during pregnancy, and in infants, children, and the elderly

This much-needed book helps to bring relief to the tens of millions who suffer from the pain of severe heartburn almost daily. If you find yourself dependent on antacids, losing sleep, missing work, or canceling plans because of heartburn discomfort, you may be among those who struggle with gastroesophageal reflux disorder, or GERD. The good news is that your condition is treatable——especially in its early stages.

This book is very comprehensive and written in plain English with medical terms and techniques kept to a minimumn; nearly all are explained clearly, simply. Example: in the very first sentnce, Dr. Minocha writes that what doctors call “gastroesophageal reflux disease” is what real people call “heartburn.”

Here is quick view of what are the content you will be getting from this book
Part 1: All About GERD and How to Diagnose and Treat it
Chapter 1: What is GERD and Who Suffers from it?
Chapter 2: What’s Causing My Heartburn?
Chapter 3: How Your Physician Comes to a Diagnosis
Chapter 4: Finding Medications That Work
Chapter 5: Alternative Medicines and Treatments That May Help

Part 2: Other Illness Affecting or Similar To GERD
Chapter 6: Peptic Ulcers
Chapter 7: Hiatal Hernia

Part 3: Special Situations and Problems
Chapter 8: When Surgery Is Needed to Heal Your Acid Reflux
Chapter 9: Pregancy and Acid Reflux
Chapter 10: Heartburn in Infants and Children
Chapter 11: How Acid Reflux Affects the Elderly

Part 4: Lifestyle Changes That Work
Chapter 12: You Are What You Eat
Chapter 13: You Are What You Sleep
Chapter 14: What You Weigh Matters
Chapter 15: Un-stress Yourself
Chapter 16: Two Key Lifestyle Changes to Make

In the book, you can learn more about mistakes that doctors sometimes make and some of the common classic mistakes which make by patients themselves. There is a section which you can learn more about the medications and GERD.

The book’s last chapter is encouraging. It points out that research for new remedies is extensive. One the horizon are new medications “to block acid secretion;” surgery that “does not require an incision;” “genetic advances;” and more.

My View: If you suffer from heartburn, seek professional help NOW- and one of the best places to start is by reading this book - How to Stop Heartburn: Simple Ways to Heal Heartburn and Acid Reflux

It examines the underlying causes of acid reflux and how acid blockers work and the their long-term impact to your health.

Truly a blessing! Now I finally understand why I have heartburn – it isn’t a deficiency of Prilosec that’s for sure. Had I known sooner, I could have solved the real problem and spared myself not only a lot of expense but also have avoided the side effects of the drug. Contains lots of helpful health and nutrition advice too. Easy read. Because it lists so many scientific studies, I’m giving this book to my doctor who was as frustrated as I was. – J. Kelly (Wylie, TX)

Martie Wittekin who is an experienced clincial nutritionist also highlights the most important natural alternatives – both those that provide immediate symptom relief and those that offer long-term relief in this book.

For example, you are advised to not to lie down for 2 to 3 hours after a meal. Excellent advice which helps to reduce the chance of having a painful episode of acid reflux symptoms and will further the tissue’s healing. Unfortuately, this advice does not address actually the root cause of your problem. But this book does explain to you clearly why.

What to expect from the book
1. There Is a Dramatically Better Way
2. What the Heck Is this Pain?
3. Is the Cure Worse than the Disease?
4. Stomach Acid: Cure or Blessing?
5. Digest this, Enzymes!
6. H. pylori, Mystery Bug
7. Candida, the Yeast Beast
8. Food Can be Such a Pain
9. New Habits, New Health
10. Care and Feeding of the Good Bugs
11. Supplements for Relief and Repair
Conclusion
Candida Questionaire

For example, in Chapter 3, it will investigate the shocking but very real possibility that the cause esophageal cancer as well as gastric cancer, may be the long term use of the acid-blocking drugs, rather than the GERD itself.

I personally find this book is a good read. It is different from the mainstream heartburn acid reflux book that you found on the shelf. This book equips you with better knowledge that you cannot find from your usual heartburn acid reflux books.

If you suffer from pain of recurrent gastric upset, or if you are currently using an acid blocker, Natural Alternatives to Nexium, Maalox, Tagamet, Prilosec & Other Acid Blockers: What to Use to Relieve Acid Reflux, Heartburn, and Gastric Ailments can make a profiound difference in the quality of your life.

Last April, I did a book review on “Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Acid Reflux”. Recently, in 15 Oct, California dietitian Elaine Magee just released a new version of this book.

In this new version, Elaine Magee wants to help those who have acid reflux learn what to do as well as what not to do. Thus, she provides great new tips and new recipes to help readers to overcome their heartburn problem.

Here are some suggestions from her new book:

Sleep on your left side. This puts your stomach in a better position not to experience reflux, Magee said in a telephone interview.

You also can make bedtime more comfortable by elevating the head of your bed with blocks. Or, plump up the top of your bed with pillows.

Try to eat a series of small meals during the day rather than skimping all day and having one big meal at night.

“When people get into this cycle of starving themselves through the day and then they get home and have a huge dinner, it’s not a good situation to be in,” Magee says.

During the day, chewing gum may also help. Just avoid mint-flavored gum, as mint may aggravate acid reflux in some people, Magee says. This is because it helps to stimulate saliva production and by increasing the saliva, it just helps push whatever acid is there down.

Sucking on antacids or lozenges after meals will have the same effect.

Drinking tap water can also help, as it will dilute one’s stomach acid, she says.

Magee’s book also includes many of the better-known tips for what people should not do if they have heartburn, such as lying down right after a meal or carrying around extra pounds.

Foods on her to-avoid list include greasy, high-fat, spicy and creamy foods, as well as those with citrus fruits and tomatoes.

But to help take the edge off, Magee also provides recipes for a no-tomato lasagna, no-tomato pizza and a low-fat Alfredo sauce.

Get this book “Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Acid Reflux” today so that you can enjoy a heartburn-free holidays this year. Make it a good start for you!

The Heartburn No More is a step-by-step holistic acid reflux treatment, consisting of sub-plans designed to tackle factors responsible for acid reflux. The main idea is using both the powers of the body and the mind and prevent the recurrence of GERD.

AFTER SUFFERING from severe acid reflux for more than 17 years, trying almost every conventional acid reflux drug and treatment, Jeff Martin, a 42-year-old research expert, health consultant and nutritionist from California, began an extensive 11-year research. This is to find an alternative cure for acid reflux and create the ultimate holistic system for curing acid reflux and achieving lasting freedom from heartburn and digestive disorders.

“Acid reflux sufferers are getting tired of being exploited”, says Martin.

“There are too many marketers and charlatans out to make a fast buck at the expense of the vulnerable. Acid reflux sufferers simply cannot afford to spend their hard earned money on pricey heartburn cures and quick fixes, only to be disappointed time and time again,” he adds.

Through his research, Martin realised that there is an abundance of heartburn cures that focus merely on the symptoms of acid reflux, but very few, if any, that focus on permanently fixing the root cause.

“The sad truth”, adds Martin, “is that even the so-called natural approaches to the treatment of acid reflux that are aimed to cure acid reflux from within, are either unrealistic, impractical or are often the same one-dimensional gimmick cures disguised as holistic solutions.”

According to Martin, in order to permanently cure acid reflux one must approach the disease from a holistic multi-dimensional perspective as oppose to tackling only a single factor that leads to heartburn formation. Furthermore, the programme must be practical and logical to use.

“There is simply no other way, but the holistic way”, says Martin, “The Heartburn No More™ programme was born out of these necessities.”

The Heartburn No More™ is a unique step-by-step holistic acid reflux treatment, consisting of several sub-plans each designed to tackle a different factor responsible for acid reflux. The main idea is using both the powers of the body and the mind to help the body heal itself from the inside out and prevent the recurrence of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

In a down-to-earth, often very personal and moving style, Martin guides you through the entire process of getting rid of your acid reflux holistically and achieving heartburn freedom, without the costs and side effects of conventional medications and antacids.

Targeting acid reflux sufferers who have tried or wish to avoid conventional drugs, the Heartburn No More™ programme has been proven effective with all types of acid reflux (Hiatal Hernia, Gastritis, Esophageal Reflux, or Bile Reflux) and in all levels of severity.

Since its release in early 2007, the Heartburn No More™ programme, the result of 11 years of research and experiment, has literally helped thousands of people worldwide to achieve permanent heartburn freedom.

In a message to Martin, Greg Nicotero, a 37-year-old from the UK, writes, “I’m only three weeks into the Heartburn No More programme and by following the principals of your programme, I am already experiencing significant relief in my acid reflux condition. I have been battling with acid reflux, food intolerance and leaky gut syndrome for seven years and I am so thankful for the invaluable knowledge I have received from your book. I will definitely recommend your book to anyone suffering from digestive disorders and chronic heartburn. People can surely use your knowledge and expertise to recover form this painful condition and take care of their health and well-being. This programme is the answer to my prayers.”

“No, I’m not a doctor”, laughs Martin, “but I sure am proud to have created a programme that truly helps other acid reflux sufferers to end their physical pain and anguish for good and gain their lives back.”
